I like having unlimited use of the spa deck on the O ships and my wife has learned that wifi reception in the concierge lounge is far better than elsewhere on the ship. (Bummer for us who are traveling in the immediate future, but such is life.). They also hold far fewer passengers just 1,250 apiece, assuming two people per cabin. We are about to embark on our third O cruise-the second within 6 months. Having experienced both, my opinion is that the upgrade is not worth it, even for what we paid ($150/person on a 12 night sailing). The next time, we will offer to sweeten the pot a bit if they go up a grade or two. There is a difference between level of service and level of amenities. The concierge puts them on your bill whether you sign or not. No longer any need to try to get those extra reservations in specialty restaurants when you can be served on the large tables in these suites. The most surefire way to get access to a concierge lounge on a ship is to book one of the top suites on a vessel. There is a concierge for the entire ship. Putting the other Concierge amenities aside, in my humble opinion, whatever value rests in the Concierge Category resides in two specific benefits: 1) The ability to make pre-cruise Specialty Restaurant reservations at 60 days out, as opposed to 45 days out for a standard veranda cabin. WE book concierge (and above) because we want more room in the cabin. It's not cost-effective, but it's really convenient. Some say they have not had trouble getting both without Concierge level priority, while others say it is sometimes a problem. That being said, the veranda and ocean view cabins are the same size as concierge cabins, and you can get the same sandwiches and pastries in Baristas, so the only advantages to concierge level are the hot breakfast, newspapers (as long as no one has taken them), and earlier embarkation (I've probably missed some). :D. I do wish we could upgrade to Penthouse, but not for this trip. Hotels aren't the only accommodations that offer this exclusive level of . Although it's worth noting that Veranda and Concierge Level Veranda Staterooms are in fact the same size, only . We use the Spa Terrace daily the Lounge convenience and amenities daily and the deck location is perfect. You'll love it. If you are below B class, then the upgrade gets you a veranda which is probably worth it. The concierge also provided free coins for the on-board laundry, along with many other services. There was no advantage for us to the Concierge level. Imo it is a better value on the R ships where you get two reservations in each restaurant. But initially we never used the butler. There are passengers like DH and myself who don't value the specialty restaurants all that much. I never paid attention to what was in the welcome bottle, because each time, we have exchanged it for a bottle of house wine. Many people will say it isn't worth it, others will say it is. Can you tell me what they are? Understood - I was curious as to why you see a distinction. Others would say, no, it isn't! It's much easier to get an early reservation sharing with others than it is a table for two at the most popular times. ;) I did do a search.the problem is that it can be hard to find a specific answer when doing a search on "concierge level", or "concierge veranda", or even just "concierge" brings up a bazillion threads that have nothing to do with my question, so it can be quite time consuming. Concierge level also gets a room service menu with expanded hot breakfast options (eggs, omelets, etc.). One other item of interest, is that Nautica concierge provides an extra hand held hair dryer. Food is very important for us, and on a heavy port itinerary, not too worried about nightlife. For instance, problems were addressed immediately on our recent Marina sailing and we were in a B4. The lounge is totally unappealing to me (bathrobes :eek:) Most requests we had regarding our room we settled with the room staff, with regards to dining, we settled it with the MaitreD directly and the reception staff took care of any other requests. But check in early in the day and you may well get one. Sorry, all three ships have the extra hand held dryer which is kept in one of the vanity drawers but Nautica also has a diffuser attachment for the hair dryer. This seemed pretty nice to me, as these were not ship's excursions and O did not owe anyone any help in these situations.
